This study aims to understand and analyze the meaning of Sendang Ki Jenggot, the meaning of the figure of Ki Jenggot along with the life values he passed down, and how both are interpreted within the social and cultural life of the Tanjungan Village community. This research employs a qualitative method with a realist ethnographic approach, with data obtained through observation, in-depth interviews with six informants, and documentation, analyzed using Clifford Geertz's interpretive theory and Victor Turner's concept of dominant symbols. The findings show that Sendang Ki Jenggot does not merely function as a water source but also carries historical, spiritual, and health-related meanings, as reflected in its alternate name, Sendang Kewarasan. The figure of Ki Jenggot is regarded as an exemplary role model who passed down values of discipline, independence, and perseverance through spiritual, financial, and social legacies. These values remain alive in cultural practices such as the Dewi Sekar Tanjung Cultural Parade and the 1000 Takir Tradition, which reinforce communal solidarity and identity across generations.
2026-11-02T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2026 Jurnal Kajian Sosial dan Budaya: Tebar Sciencehttps://ejournal.tebarscience.com/index.php/JKSB/article/view/318Alcohol consumption habits among adolescents in Bulutellue village, Bulupoddo district, Sinjai regency2026-11-01T02:01:55+00:00Abdul Rahmanrahmanparahyangan83@gmail.com
This study aims to analyze adolescent social interactions, the determinants of alcohol consumption behavior, and the educational role of parents regarding adolescents in Bulutellue Village, Bulupoddo District, Sinjai Regency. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed. Data collection involved observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, with informants selected purposively based on the adequacy of information regarding the research focus. The data analysis process utilized an interactive model comprising data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that adolescent social interactions in Bulutellue Village are dominated by peer group dynamics, unsupervised socializing outside the home or school, and the consequences of parental lack of supervision. Furthermore, alcohol consumption among these adolescents is simultaneously driven by individual characteristics, social environmental vulnerabilities, family disharmony, and local cultural influences. Consequently, optimizing the educational and preventive supervisory roles of parents serves as a crucial instrument in minimizing adolescent social deviance in the area.
2026-11-01T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2026 Jurnal Kajian Sosial dan Budaya: Tebar Sciencehttps://ejournal.tebarscience.com/index.php/JKSB/article/view/319The Ngayah tradition among the Balinese community in Sumber Agung village, East Luwu regency2026-11-01T02:19:27+00:00Parham Taufikparham.taufik@unm.ac.id
This study aims to analyze the existence of the ngayah tradition within social life, the impact of modernization on this tradition, and the preservation efforts undertaken by the Balinese community in Sumber Agung Village, Kalaena District, East Luwu Regency. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, involving key informants such as the customary leader, hamlet head, the head of the Parisada Hindu Dharma Indonesia (PHDI), and local Balinese residents. The data analysis process utilized an interactive model comprising data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that the ngayah tradition remains strongly maintained within the Balinese community in this transmigration area. The continuity of this tradition is driven by community awareness, which views ngayah as embodying fundamental purposes, noble values, and profound socio-religious significance that fosters community solidarity. While modernization has influenced the way the tradition is practiced, the community continues to undertake protective measures to preserve this gotong royong (mutual cooperation) tradition and prevent it from eroding over time.
2026-11-01T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2026 Jurnal Kajian Sosial dan Budaya: Tebar Sciencehttps://ejournal.tebarscience.com/index.php/JKSB/article/view/320The Tungku marriage as a bond between two families in Rai village, Ruteng district, Manggarai regency2026-11-01T03:24:15+00:00Oktaviani Hadiachandraambak788@gmail.comDimas Ario Sumilih dimas.ario.sumilih@unm.ac.id
This study aims to explore the philosophical significance of the tungku marriage tradition. A qualitative research method with a descriptive approach was employed. Data collection involved observation, interviews, and documentation, with traditional leaders, community members, and the younger generation serving as informants. Data analysis was conducted in three main stages: data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the tungku marriage tradition holds profound philosophical meaning as a means of fostering kinship ties. This tradition serves as a vital mechanism for maintaining strong, enduring family bonds across generations between the anak rona (the bride-giving group) and the anak wina (the bride-receiving group). Through tungku marriage, the cultural values and social structures of the indigenous community are preserved and passed down from one generation to the next.
2026-11-01T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2026 Jurnal Kajian Sosial dan Budaya: Tebar Science
